Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was represented at the Florida Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Ocala on October 11, 2013 by members of the Honor Guard and Pipes & Drums. Additionally, Jack Norris was asked again this year to produce the official video for the memorial ceremony.
The service took place in the courtyard of the Florida State Fire College alongside the statue and granite monuments bearing the names of the Fallen. Florida CFO / Fire Marshall Jeff Atwater gave the ceremony address.
This year, the names of eight firefighters from previous years were added to the Memorial. There were no Line-Of-Duty-Deaths (LODD) in Florida in 2012, yet there have already been LODDs this year that will be added at next year's memorial service.
A new feature at the Memorial is a pair of eternal flames that were lit prior to the ceremony.
More than 200 members of Honor Guards, Pipes & Drums and uniformed personnel from across Florida participated.
PBCFR representatives: Honor Guard - Capt. Steen Eriksson (ret), Capt. Rick Gass (ret). Pipes & Drums - Capt. John Fischer (ret), DO Jim Clark.
